Jay Lefkowitz's public voice stretches back to the early 1990s and runs through nearly every major American forum of law and opinion. As an essayist, he has written for The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The New York Times, the Financial Times, National Review, The Hill, and the New York Sun. His longest association is with Commentary, where for over thirty years he has written on politics, religion, and the Supreme Court — from his analyses of the Jewish vote in American elections to "Stem Cells and the President," his first-person account of shaping the 2001 stem cell policy from inside the White House, and "The Rise of Social Orthodoxy," a widely debated portrait of modern Jewish identity.

 

As a subject of coverage, his career has been chronicled by The Washington Post — which profiled him in 2002 as President Bush's "policy point man" — by Columbia College Today, and by the legal press: Law360 named him an MVP of the Year across the Appellate and Life Sciences categories, one of only three attorneys among 189 honorees recognized in five consecutive years.
