Jay Lefkowitz serves as a Trustee and as a member of Tikvah's visiting faculty, teaching in its educational programs and appearing regularly on the Tikvah Podcast on subjects ranging from American law and politics to Jewish communal life.

Founded in 1945, Commentary is one of America's most influential journals of politics, ideas, and Jewish affairs. Jay Lefkowitz's relationship with the magazine spans more than thirty years: he has been a frequent contributor of essays and reviews since the 1990s — including his widely discussed 2014 essay "The Rise of Social Orthodoxy" — and serves on its Board of Directors.

He served on the firm's Worldwide Management Committee, helping guide its global strategy and growth during a period in which Kirkland became the highest-grossing law firm in the world, until his retirement from the firm in 2026.
